Meet Sarah: an Opera singer with pizazz

By caitlin on March 11, 2014

Meet Sarah O’Brien2013-10-01 15.30.11

Sarah O’Brien is originally from Naples, FL  and will join us for her first Indy Convergence this May. She has been involved in the Bach Ensemble of Naples, Opera Naples, Naples Opera Society, Naples Carolers, Bower School of Music’s Chamber Choir, and Cantor at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Orlando. Sarah was also the first place vocalist of the Ave Maria Vocal Competition, Naples Music Club, Voices of Naples, and the Young Artist Competition. She recently was a resident artist with Central Florida Lyric Opera. The best part is she’ll be moving to the Midwest later this year! We can’t wait to meet Sarah and continue to work with her long after IC 2014.

Sarah answered a few questions about what she’ll work on in May. Meet Sarah and our other artists by joining us for a free workshop or the Open Lab Performance on May 17!

What are you working on in May?

This year I will be working on combining an opera aria with a pop song. Through this project, I will incorporate several instruments and hopefully add choreography to bring the project to life.

Why did you want to work with IC this year?

What interested me about Indy Convergence was its ability to bring all forms of art together. I really loved the idea that I would be able to work with and learn from a wide array of talent. I look forward to building my own craft in a way that most other programs do not explore.
