Photos from the 2016 SLW build
This year we had a short building season, but were still able to get an incredible amount of work completed at the new Sa-K-La-K-Wel. One of the best parts of this year was seeing the SLW board start to take over the day to day operations of the build and begin to develop plans for SLW post-construction. The seven member board faced issues this year and met each one with grace and intelligence. We are pleased to say Indy Convergence now operates at SLW as a guest of the community, not the organizing entity. Five years in the making, this transition was always the goal and a difficult one to accomplish, but the community of Oban wanted SLW to be a part of their “zone” and is making it happen through determination, collaboration and lots of innovation. Indy Convergence will still help grow their arts programs, continue to send artists to help with the Earthship Amphitheater, and grow a teacher/artist exchange.
Here are a few photos from the build in February 2016:

- Rah Rah brought the party

- Preparing for the performances as a storm looms
- Gran Lakou takes the stage
- Looking at the seating. The thin layer of black dirt sits on top of live lime. We remved and saved the black dirt for botanical cells behind the theater.
