New Artist in Residence

By caitlin on January 2, 2017

Tanner Hronek was a part of Indy Convergence just as we were stretching our legs at the second annual Convergence. We’re thrilled that he’s returning to Indy and will be our artist-in-residence through March. Learn more about Tanner below and stop by 2611 West Michigan to meet him- he arrives today!

Tanner Hronek is a dance performer, teacher, and choreographer.  He began his training at age 12 under Robert Thomas of the Joffery Ballet and Miyoko Kato of The Harkness Ballet which he supplemented with summers spent at the Boston Ballet and Houston Ballet Academies.  After high school Tanner continued his discipline at Butler University, where he graduated with a BFA in Dance Performance.  During his time at Butler, Tanner had the opportunity to perform many roles in the ballet classics such as Giselle, Coppelia, Swan Lake, Les Sylphides, Petrushka, and travel to Panama to perform The Nutcracker with the National Ballet of Panama.  He also began experiencing modern and contemporary movement styles through his work with the diverse Butler Faculty.  In the years following graduation he performed with the Lexington Ballet, Charleston Ballet Theater, and Dance Kaleidoscope.  He eventually returned to Dance Kaleidoscope full time where he performed in both Indianapolis and in Ashland, Oregon at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.  He currently teaches ballet and modern for both teenagers and adults.  It is not possible for him to express how happy and excited he is to be coming back to Indy.
