Our first Haitian cultural exchange in Indy

This past April and May we realized a dream we’ve had for over five years, bring Haitian artists to Indianapolis to collaborate and share their talents with local artists. It was a whirlwind trip that sadly only a few of the selected artists were able to make due to visa issues. But, we made the most of it and Burno Rene, Meger Samedi, and Gerald Joanis charmed Indianapolis with their many talents. While here, Gerald taught a class at Indiana University and performed at the Church Within with our spring artist-in-residence, Jean Paul Weaver. All the artists spoke to students at Decatur Central High School, collaborated on two murals, and had their work up for two months at Clowes Memorial Hall. Thank you to everyone who donated to make this special exchange possible. To keep programs like this alive at Indy Convergence make your tax deductible gift today! We’re looking forward to many, many exchanges in the future!
