A Rising Tide
Welcome back to your river
A Rising Tide is back this year! We cannot wait to welcome you back to the river this September 9-19 for a full two-week series of A Rising Tide events. Tickets will go on sale on SATURDAY JULY 17. Events include theater, dance, improv, DJs, and guided nature hikes. This season of A Rising Tide is dedicated to our beloved board member Jill Ditmire who passed away earlier this year.
STARTING IN JULY– we’re training our own Near West stage crew starting July 2. Paid training will take place at Indy Convergence with on-the-job training continuing July 16 at the Black-N-Brown Get-Down Solidarity Festival hosted by the WCDC and other Near West partners. Crew members will learn how to set up our all-terrain stage, lighting and sound basics, and general stage etiquette. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org to join the crew. We have three spaces available for trainees. Once trained our stage crew will have paid opportunities starting in January 2022 with our neighbors at Fonseca Theatre Company and continued summer work with Indy Convergence in 2022.
Want to become a sponsor or volunteer? That’s awesome! Direct your questions to email@example.com. We have tiered sponsorships available for our 2021 season.
The story behind the festival
A Rising Tide is an Indy Convergence initiative that will bring performance to the shores of the White River. It is mobile, non-invasive programming that will create a seasonal theater district along both sides of the river, that’s been tapped as one of the most exciting things happening in Indy this summer. A Rising Tide will also create arts-based jobs in the Near West and will donate a portion of proceeds to the NW Livability task force for resident-led projects. A Rising Tide is also working with trailblazers city-wide to integrate our programs into existing plans around the revitalization of the White River.
With an initial gift from Reconnecting to Our waterways through the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust White River Fund, Indy Convergence purchased two outdoor stages including one that will float on the river!
In 2019 Indy Convergence produced five shows with artistic and community partners who included Fonseca Theatre Company, Kenyetta Dance, Forward Motion, UnNamed Productions, White River Alliance, the Eiteljorg Museum, and bands, The Palace, Sweet Poison Victim, Chatham Heart and Bigfoot Yancey.
